Jocelyn from LEAD: Women’s Session Testimony

During today’s women’s session, Jocelyn shared how one simple act of kindness revealed God’s love to her.

She started off as a very joyful child, but gradually she noticed people becoming annoyed by her. She started to feel ashamed of her joy until she could no longer feel it inside her and a sadness set in. Her parents saw that she was struggling and made her go to youth group. Even though that first time she didn’t want to go, she kept going. Gradually, God worked on her heart.

A breakthrough happened when she was on retreat and she was participating in a foot washing ceremony. She was overcome with emotion and started crying…sobbing, really. And as she was crying, the boy next to her grabbed a tissue and wiped the tears off of her face. (At this point in the talk all of the girls said, “Awwwwww!!!” in unison).

She was struck by the tenderness of this action, but it wasn’t about the boy. She said, “Although, physically I know it was this boy, but spiritually, I know it was God. I know he was there. And in my heart I heard him say, Jocelyn, I love you and I will always be there for you and I will always be there to wipe your tears.”

Jocelyn said God continues to remind her of this message, especially in Confession. She ended the talk encouraging others to step outside of themselves and offer an act of kindness when they see someone in need. “God can use you to be the light in someone else’s life.”
