“As Catholics, we engage; we do not hide. Catholics are called to transform the culture. We have everything we need. It’s all about Jesus.” – Bishop Rice

Today, on the feast of St. Bonaventure, we began with Mass celebrated by Bishop Rice. We heard in the Gospel reading that God knows everything: when sparrows are falling out of trees and how many hairs are on our heads. God also knows the future, but He doesn’t lay it all out for us in one moment. Fr. Rick expanded upon this idea and helped us see the beauty and reason in why God doesn’t reveal our entire future to us: He is invitational.
Steubenville St. Louis Mid-America Week 2 is underway! First up was a Mass for the conference volunteers, celebrated by Bishop Rice of the Diocese of Springfield – Cape Girardeau. His message was clear: the key source of our courage is being convicted that Jesus is who He says He is. That courage is what allows us to witness our faith to the world.
We kicked off Saturday with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. As we prepared our hearts before the celebration, our Host Ennie Hickman reminded us that the Eucharist is the Source and Summit of our faith. We were taught that worship is a response to what we value. We want to worship the Lord with the praise and adoration that is due to only Him.
