Trust Restored: Kyle Heimann

“Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. Let it be to me according to your word.”
– Luke 1:38

It’s sometimes difficult for us to trust people. Maybe we’ve been burned when we’ve trusted someone in the past. So, how do we go about growing in our trust of God? Well, one great way is to look to our Blessed Mother Mary and invite her to pray for us.

At the Annunciation, when the angel Gabriel brought the message to Mary that God had chosen her to be the Mother of God, she had a choice to make. Scripture tells us she was greatly troubled, but she trusted the words of the angel when she was told, “Do not be afraid.” Even though Mary was full of grace, she still had questions. She still experienced suffering and hardship. However, she trusted God with her life, and that trust brought forth the Savior of the world.

Before He died on the cross, Jesus asked the Apostle John to take Mary into his home. Jesus extends that same request to us. He wants us to turn to Mary because He knows she is a strong path between us. At the Annunciation, Jesus used Mary to get to us. Now, we can use Mary’s prayers for us as a way to get to Him. As our mother, Mary prays and desires to give us the same trust that she has in her Son.
