Vocations Call

We know that the Lord has been working in all of our hearts this weekend. For some, the Holy Spirit has been stirring a call of special service to Jesus and His Church.

Considering the Catholic Church

There are some in attendance at the conference who are either not baptized or are not currently in full communion with the Catholic Church. Fr. Mike Schmitz made an invitation to those considering becoming Catholic to come to the altar. Over 20 men and women came to the front. He encouraged them to go back home and speak to their local Catholic parish for information to help them continue their journey of faith.

Discerning Women

Sr. Josephine Garrett addressed the women in attendance. She encouraged those discerning whether the Lord may be calling them to the religious life to make their way to the altar. More than 50 women approached the altar to receive a blessing from Archbishop Rozanski and advice from Sr. Josephine. Sister encouraged the women that they must pray intentionally, “Because it’s the Lord who calls.” She reminded the women that it is through prayer that they will come to know God’s call in their lives. In addition, Sr. Josephine encouraged them to reach out and connect with women religious who can walk with them in discernment.

Discerning Men

Finally, Fr. Mike Schmitz encouraged all the men considering a vocation to the priesthood to come forward. Over 100 young men approached the altar. Fr. Mike had three practical pieces of advice for them.

1. Spend time with Jesus in the Eucharist.
2. Get to know our mother Mary and pray the Rosary.
3. Visit a Seminary.

Archbishop Rozanski and the priests in attendance gave a blessing.

The whole congregation was encouraged to pray for our individual discernment and for the Church as a whole. Each and every one of us has a call from the Lord. Everyone needs prayer, discernment, community, and courage to follow Him.
