Humans of Steubystl: Dave G.

I found Dave G. at the “Packet Pick Up” table during the hustle and bustle of registration. His wife Kyra was just a few feet away, helping groups to check-in and handing out name tags. Dave said this is the 13th year he and his wife have been volunteering as prayer ministers at Steubystl. He’s from Incarnate Word parish in Chesterfield and all four of his kids have attended this conference.

“I really, truly enjoy this and love being able to bring kids closer to Christ through the prayer ministry program.”  Dave let me know they have made some improvements to the program recently. The Prayer Ministers used to double as Ushers, but they now make themselves more available by dedicating themselves fully to praying with teens who need it throughout the weekend. They are also doing a better job of making everyone aware of their purpose, keeping themselves more visible, and being reachable throughout the weekend.

What keeps Dave coming back year after year? “It’s cool to be able to pray with the young adults and look at their faces and see the Holy Spirit move within them. There’s just something so cool about that.” Dave likes to help the teens with any issues they might have and pray with them. He also reminds them how they can “keep the fire lit that’s inside of them” when they return home.

Thank you, Dave for all you do!
