David and Rachel Leininger have been married almost three years, with three kids in tow (one in Heaven, one at home, and one on the way), but that couldn’t stop them from making the trek to SteubySTL – David as part of the production crew, Rachel as a part of the speaking ministry team.
This is a place near and dear to their hearts. In fact, the first time they were ever in the same room was the JQH Arena, they just didn’t know it…
Well. The time has come. You woke up early today, drank some coffee, and loaded up on your way to Steubenville. For some people this is a yearly occurrence, whereas, for others, this is a new concept. While we all gather for one goal, each one of us are in a different story.
Here at the conference, our days have started similarly. The conference staff members and volunteers traveled from all over, and we are just as excited as you. At 10 am, the team gathered together to share in the celebration of the Eucharist with Auxillary Bishop Mark Rivituso of the Archdiocese of St. Louis. During his homily, he talked about costs. That there are costs everyday in our lives that we must weigh, from the cost of shirt to the cost of our faith. As Christ shares with his disciples today in the Gospel, following Him is quite costly.
As Bishop Rivituso says,
“There is a price to pay, and Jesus wants to make sure that we are not going into this with rose-colored glasses.”
One of the things that I enjoy more than anything else is travel. Visiting new places and experiencing things for the first time seems to never get old. Whether I’m getting in my car and driving a few hours to just get out of town for a day or getting on a plane and flying half way around the world, the new sights, sounds, smells, and flavors are a sure way to break up the monotony of daily life.
